Dr. Shubhra Bansal
Dr. Shubhra Bansal is an Associate Professor with a joint appointment in School of Mechanical Engineering and School of Materials Engineering at Purdue University. The underlying theme of her research is to enable innovation through fundamental understanding of degradation mechanisms. Her research group identifies the root cause of degradation and accordingly engineer materials and processes to maximize performance. Her research also addresses fundamental challenges to materials and device sustainability, for example earth-abundant alternatives and materials recovery. Dr. Bansal joined Purdue in January 2023. Previously she was an Associate Professor in Department of Mechanical Engineering at University of Nevada Las Vegas. She has held scientist positions with Department of Energy SunShot Initiative and GE Global Research prior to joining academia. Shubhra received her Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology for her work on nano-Cu pillars for chip-to-package interconnections. She completed her undergraduate studies in Metallurgical & Materials Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology- Roorkee in 2001. She is a recipient of NSF CAREER Award, and NASA and DOE faculty fellowships and serves as the Associate Editor of Solar Energy Journal and IEEE Journal of Photovoltaics. Shubhra loves to spend time with her two very naughty boys.
